Clyde E. Willis was a political science professor at Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to this, he had a 25-year career as an attorney, first at the Federal Trade Commission in Chicago, then in private practice in his hometown of Rogersville, Tennessee, and then with Harwell, Baumgardner and Willis in Knoxville, Tennessee. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville while practicing law, leading to his second career as a college professor. Before teaching at MTSU, he taught political science at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. Willis died on July 24, 2017. (See his obituary here.)
