Karen Petersen, Ph.D., is the president of Hendrix College. She earned her master’s and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Petersen served 16 years at her undergraduate alma mater Middle Tennessee State University as a faculty member, and eventually as dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Her publications include journal articles on the causes of interstate conflict, terrorism, the federal courts and FISA, and pedagogical issues related to online learning. She co-authored “Prospects for Political Stability in a Democratic Iraq” with Stephen Saunders.
