As we celebrate our fifth anniversary at the Free Speech Center, we can look back and say it’s been an action-packed half decade for the First Amendment.
The Free Speech Center follows all of the top controversies and legal developments in the world of the First Amendment, the amendment that keeps us free. Just in the past year, we’ve monitored and analyzed issues involving campus protests, social media regulation, book banning, the news media, and much more.
Center Director Ken Paulson said, “As a nonpartisan, nonprofit educational center, it’s our goal to build support and understanding of the First Amendment through information and analysis.”
Among the center’s activities in this update, you’ll find:
- The top 10 topics people searched for on the website, including in our First Amendment Encyclopedia.
- A concise year-in-review of developments in First Amendment law.
- An overview of the center’s resources.
The update also includes details of an award from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) to Middle Tennessee State University for its commitment to free expression. MTSU hosts the Free Speech Center.
